Both were impressive. It's hard to say who's was more impressive. It's easy to say Tiger because of the gap in which he won. But Jordan went wire to wire, and his lead was never in question.

I'll go Tiger.
Even though the field and course is much tougher now than it was in 97, Tiger won by 12 strokes. How much you win by is a much better way to tell who was the better player in the field that week. Tiger won when the winning score without him would have been 6 under, and only 12 players finished under par. This week without Jordan the winning score would have been 14 under and 32 players finished under par.

This was my thinking as well. The field this year was dominating the course, however "difficult" it was compared to 1997.
Only Tiger truly dominated the course and the field in 1997.

I'm just not convinced the course was more difficult when you factor in club technology and greens. I really think the greens were pretty slow this year.

For something so subjective, I can only go by how the field actually performed on the course. In 1997, far more golfers had trouble with the course than this year.

I just think that players are so much more athletic and physical now so they have to make courses tougher (technology definitely helps though).
I mean looking at the top 10 this year almost all of the guys are incredible athletes (maybe not Charley Hoffman). There's just so much more value placed on being in shape now and it really does help the quality of play.
