Without going into a lot of detail, I'm a member of a local organization and I assist with organizing several annual local functions. We have a few thousand likes on FB and I decided to use FB's "Boost Post" to increase the visibility of a post that advertises our event with a flyer attached.

My question is sort've post facto, but it was relatively inexpensive and even if it proves ineffective, there wasn't much of a risk in spending the money. What I'm wondering is if anyone else has experience paying for posts to be boosted and if so, what was it?

My wife does a blog and has a Facebook page, and the consensus between her and other bloggers is that the pays do nothing but make you number look bigger and actually in some cases reduce visibility because of the fuction of the algorithim they use.I will see if i can find the article that goes into this better than I can.

If you do it make sure you limit the ads to the geographic area or you could be unknowingly advertising all around the country.
