Describe Louisiana Culture If You Cannot Mention Anything Pre-1990

I like to think about culture and how places portray themselves. So much of it is based on the past, obviously, and there is nothing wrong with that. It is great, actually.
But, another way to look at a place/people is to think about what they are producing now that is not based on what past generations did.
Nothing wrong with building on the past, but how would you describe Louisiana's culture if you weren't considering everything that we love from the past?
What is legitimate in a current sense? What does Louisiana produce now that if we didn't consider the past would still be viable? What has a future-orientation?
For example, Italy is wonderful. I have been there and it is beautiful. But, it is a bit depressing when you think about how much they depend on the great achievements of the past for their identity. But, on the other hand, the wine and food are prodcued now and there continues to be innovation those areas. So, I would count that as something from the present. Sports cars as well.
What about Louisiana? Where is our culture still "living" and growing and not just regurgitating past accomplishments?
(BTW, I can think of a lot of things, so this is not a negative post. Just wondering what others would say.)

Food, Music, Art, Cinema, wildlife, and Festivals are all still big parts of Louisiana culture and are evolving and changing all the time. Though a lot of the food, music, and festivals pre-date your arbitrary 1990 number, they change and improve all the time, still giving the state important cultural identity.
