I never beat MK9. I don't suck at fighting games, but the 2 and 3 v 1 fights in the story mode made me want to break things.
InJustice still had some challenging fights but was much better in that respect.

There's no "tag team" matches in this one.
For those interested, there's pretty much the entire game leaked on the internet in some form or fashion by now.
The only thing I'll spoil is that, in the story mode, you have to fight four characters who aren't on the main roster (one of them is DLC though) 2 times apiece. In fact, you fight every character exactly twice except for Raiden, Kenshi, Takeda, Cassie, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Kung Jin, and Jacqui.

I was a little underwhelmed by the story. It's better than most of the other MK story modes, but MK9's story is the benchmark now.

The story might have been better, but some of the fights in MK9 could have been resolved with a simple cutscene or a quick time battle.
The post-credits ending, though...wow.
Not only that, but the arcade endings actually support and complement the story mode for the most part. The only endings which are definitely non-canonical, or just flat out stupid are:
D'Vorah
Goro
Quan Chi
Reptile
Shinnok
Sub-Zero
All of the others either directly complement each other, or are logical conclusions from the story mode.

Some of the pre-match interactions I've seen are just flat out hilarious, especially the one where Cage implies that Mileena was sleeping with Baraka and she says, "WHO TOLD YOU THAT?!?!!"

This one disagrees with your protest. This one knows that they scale the difficulty down every time you retry, to the point that, if you lose enough, the opponent basically stands there and doesn't block.

It's one of my favorite genres. Soul Calibur and Tekken are probably my two favorites, but some of the fights in MK9 reminded me of SNK boss battle.

Gonna go home and play allllllll day and night. I haven't played MK since like PS1 days, so I'm just absolutely atrocious. There were characters I've never seen before, but I'm enjoying just reading their back stories and trying to figure out what they do.
