Just got home from and as always, I thoroughly enjoyed the last four days at Augusta National. It's hard to gripe about anything about this event but I guess the only thing I try to avoid is the horde of goons who still follow Woods around like he is God. I evaded that sea of goons running from hole to hole doing their a Tiger circle jerk all week until today.

My son and I were standing on the ropes up the 11th fairway when Woods flew his tee shot into the pines right where we were standing. Within a minute, the herd was packed around us like sardines. But that is normal and expected.

What made me want to puke was when the marshall walked over to the ropes (Tiger was still 300 yards off and just leaving the tee box) and said "everybody please be quiet for Tiger and make sure you don't move at all when he gets here because Tiger doesn't like any kind of movement. Please be perfectly still." I was like...WTF! In all my years of going to that tournament I have never heard a marshall or spotter address the patrons in that way refarding any player....much less one 300'yards and a three minute stroll away. Why do so many people still polish this has beens knob?

I feel bad this is your takeaway from Augusta and the 79th edition of the Masters. One marshal ruined your experience enough to come home and write a lengthy post about.

If it's a problem, I'll take your tickets next year.

Because Tiger is an a-hole and has probably informed the people at Augusta National exactly what he expects. For some reason, people bow down to him instead of telling him to deal with it,

So you supposedly have been going to the Masters for years and this is the first time you've had an issue regarding Tiger? And then you say he's whiny? Maybe you just ran into a shitty marshal? Or maybe you're making this up.

Youre complaining about the crowds around a pairing of two of the three biggest draws in the PGA? Then you go on to bitch about a volunteer with no affiliations to the Masters or Augusta National?

Get the frick out with that. Who cares? What kind of guy are you to let one loser affect your experience?

Either you are a liar trying to impress the MSB, trolling to get our reactions (kudos to that one), or you are telling the truth; in that case, you are being quite the whiner, and modeling whiny behavior for your son.

Trolling aside, you need to gain some perspective and pass it along.

First, he said he was there for the last four days, and not just for the Tiger-Rory pairing. Second, I doubt Augusta allows Marshall's with "no affiliation" to the club.

Eh, I've worked the Zurich several time and have come across many pros that don't like movement when they're in the process of taking a shot.

Well none of them do...but I think the OP was implying that everyone needed to be in position immediately and Tiger's preparation (including walk to the ball) not be interrupted by the patrons.

I can see them wanting everyone in position before the golfer arrives to maintain pace of play, marshal just took the presence of Tiger to the extreme.

But if this is what the OP is concerned about after the most impressive performance in Master's history...I just don't even...

Fair.

That's exactly what they are. Volunteers with no outside affiliation. If you'd like, you can sign up to be a marshall or spotter. The wait list to do so is decades long, though.
