They are the second seed currently. Won't really surprise me.

The only question is do they need to win? Pop will sit starters if not no doubt.

Not happening. The Spurs have a 1/2 game lead on both Memphis and Houston with us as their only remaining game. Houston plays @Charlotte, and vs Utah. Memphis plays @Warriors and vs. Pacers. I'm guessing Houston will still be in it and San Antonio will need the win. Also the Utah Houston game starts after ours so it's not like they can throw in the towel in the 4th after learning they're the 2 seed.

Yes, there is no scenario where they have the 2 seed locked up before Wednesday night

Won't happen. they would fall from 2 to 5 or 6 wth a loss(if HOU beats Cha and Uta)

So if Memphis and Houston lose their first games, this would give Spurs a 1 game lead. I'm assuming by your post that the Spurs do not hold the tie breaker over these three. Am I right? I don't know how tie breakers work in NBA.

Tiebreaker #1: Head 2 head
Tiebreaker #2: Conference record

A quick google search yields...

falling from 2 to 6 makes almost no impact on a team. You would still play the same team. And I'd say of all the major sports, the NBA has the least important home court advantage.

Also the 6th seed still avoids GSW which is the goal.

This isn't true at all. 2 plays 7 (Mavs) and 6 plays 3 (Clippers).

Least important by definition means it has some level of importance. Now if the Spurs thought they'd get a better matchup at 6 than 2, I believe they would forgo home court in the 1st round, but they aren't going to take the 6 seed for the hell of it or to help out some Spurs alums in NOLA.

The Mavs were the only team to kind of get in their way last year. The 6 drop though is concerning. I could see being ok with the drop to 5 and getting Portland.

Then they have to play GSW in the 2nd round. No one wants the 5th seed
