It's cash, what are you going to do? Tell every store in the area to look out for those serial numbers. Yeah, that's not going to happen.
So what happens when those stores deposit in the bank? They may get flagged at that branch, but how do you trace to the person making that transaction. I don't know if I would stop or keep it, but in my mind, there's no way that you could prosecute since you wouldn't really have substantial evidence.
