I will never know. I think that there is a large vocal minority that hates anything that gets too popular. Couple that with the fact that they kinda only had one big album and disappeared meaning that most of the public quickly lost interest, you have a combo for a band that is remembered as hated when they never were hated that much. Their music is nothing spectacular but it's fun to chill out to while drinking in your backyard on a saturday

He's 25 years old. His mother.... God rest her soul. He just wants to fly. Leave him alone.

The answer is Mark McGrath, but I definitely have to some Sugar Ray every now and again.

According to Wikipedia, he hosts some show I've never heard of called killer karaoke. He took over for Steve-O

Horrible horrible band!!! I have seen them live and it was pathetic. They couldn't hold a candle to the other bands I saw that day: 10 Years, Sevendust, Chevelle, and the headliner Shinedown.

Puddle of Mudd is just ok, imo. 10 Years really has only one good song, never seen Sevendust live so I'll reserve judgement, Chevelle kicks arse (tbh "Shameful Metaphors" was one of my favorite songs of that decade), and Shinedown was surprisingly great live. Unfortunately, I haven't really liked anything they've done in the last 5 years.

Sevendust kicked arse live!! Hung out with the lead singer while Chevelle and Shinedown played. Chevelle impressed the hell out of me that day! I hve never seen a bass player break an E string but did during that performance.

I was super disappointed in Shinedown. They are sell-outs. They made sure and played their 2 worst songs up til that date (Her Name is Alice and Diamond Eyes)and made sure that while they were playing them all you could see anywhere in the arena was shots from 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'The Expendables'. Also, they were dressed in spandex like they were some 80's glam hair band. I left before they were even done playing and have not listened to them since.

I must have seen them a couple years before then. Diamond Eyes hadn't come out yet and there was no spandex. As a f&%k you to LSU's alcohol ban at Groovin' on the Grounds, while the bass player and drummer took a break, the lead singer came out with a bottle of beer, sat on the end of the stage next to the lead guitar player (who had an acoustic), and did "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay". Pretty great moment.

I've never hated Sugar Ray. Are they my favorite band? No. But everytime I listen to Fly, Someday, When It's Over, or Every Morning, it always puts me in a good mood. The songs are very nostalgic for me and are great to listen to on the beach, on a boat, or at a party. They are essential to any 90's pop playlist.

They had a few songs that were very popular mainstream. That somehow qualifies them to be hated, I like them.

Man, Sevendust brings it. One of the only alternative/hard rock bands that can legitimately get a mosh going, and I listen to alot of metal. They are not metal, but pretty damn close.
