Can you really give a good chef some tree bark, powdered sugar and like a catfish and they can make a meal out of it in 30 minutes?

I never know if I'm getting duped or not during this show.

it usually has only 1 ingredient that's way outside the ballpark ... sometimes 2, but usually just 1 that's "wtf?" ... the rest of it is technique and "big picture", imo ...

The fact that you're watching them cook should tell you.

That show ruined the network. Who wants to see people competing at cooking? They hardly ever have real cooking shows anymore, but they have developed more competition shows.

If it didn't rate better they wouldn't have gone in that direction.

Almost everything from 6am to 5pm is cooking shows unless there's Chopped or D,D, & D marathon.

Iron Chef started the competition cooking shows for them. If anyone is to blame for destroying FN it's Gordon Ramsey.

I thought that was like, their highest rated show. A lot of their shows are competitive cooking. At least that's the way it was when I still had cable a year ago.

Man, I really miss Restaurant Impossible.

It's real. They will practice for the show, yea they get different crazy stuff but it's all CSN be broken down into broad categories, protein, carb, veg, etc. so you could make the same dish with a variety of ingredients.

This is true. Those sob stories ruin the show for me. Just shut up and cook.

As for the OP, I bet they give them a little more time to formulate their recipes than we see...

I love that show. I watch it every time it's on.

And yes it's real.

I'll binge watch chopped and cutthroat kitchen, then I'll put a 30 min timer in the kitchen and whip up dinner.

I'm totally ready for the amateur episodes. I apply once a month.

Do you really?

The contestants from Louisiana usually do well (talking about the professionals). The original concept of the show was limited to the New York area (the first 3 or 4 seasons) only had folks near New York City. When the ratings increased, they accepted request to appear from all over the world.

I wouldn't mind taking a crack at it.

It's gone downhill. Robert used whip their arse into shape. Now Robert is the dysfunctional restaurant family counselor.
