Roger that, by the way. Gonna be down in Delacroix on 21-22 May if you want to come down.

Are you trying to sight fish with one? Those hulls are heavy and don't pole well. At 35hp surface drive is heavy as shite and you only get the shallow water capabilities while under power.

What is it exactly that you want to do with the boat? My dad has one, and when he want's to fish redfish he takes me skiff.

I like my 18x54 GatorTail rig. Chased some reds back up into some shallow ponds last fall with good success. I like it for exploring new areas as I'm not as I'm not quite as worried about running over submerged objects. The square chine tracks a lot better under trolling motor power than my old round chine GD boat, but it's still a flat bottom rig that won't track like a fiberglass hull. We got 10" catwalks on our boat and they have been very useful while fishing. The only drawback is speed as I run +/-26mph with 2 ppl and fishing gear. That's with a stock 35GTR on a CC GT boat. Good luck.

As soon as I get mine fixed I'll shoot you a text and we can go chase some reds. I moved closer to Nola so I'm only 15 minutes out fr the city now. I've been itching to get in some fish!

Used to fish out of one a lot. I was back and forth between a nice surface drive rig and a flats boat. Ultimately, I found a flats boat with extremely low hours and all the bells and whistles for the price of a center console GT. It's much easier fishing out of a boat made for it (stability, noise, tracking, etc.), but there's definitely nothing wrong with fishing out of them. It gets the job done more than adequately.

Now that I sold my boat, I figure I'll be back to fishing out of one. Everyone I know with an inshore boat has a GT rig at the moment.

I got DQ'd last year because the ***** from Terrebonne marine said this fish was over the 22" size limit.

Would have definitely placed.

Yep. What was our other fish, 21 7/8", around 7lbs? We would have definitely been top three.

If you are going to fish redfish tourneys get a Check-it-stick. The day of, or day before the tourney ask for the official board, compare your board to theirs, and be sure you use the same technique they do for measuring. Tail pinched, or tail pinched and swiped, etc . This may seem petty or OCD, but it can be the difference between winning and not placing. TRUST ME!
And even after all this a fish can change lengths during the day, I’ve seen a perfect fish at the time I caught him be an over a few hours later at the weigh-in... Cost me lots of money!!!
