Men's haircut around uptown NOLA
Posted by Boats n Hose on 4/9/15 at 12:13 pm02
I've done the thread before but the one with the good responses was deleted.
Anyway. Live uptown. Need haircut sometimes. I'm poor but I like a haircut that looks rich/FaF/alpha/piihb etc.
I've never paid more than 15 bucks for a haircut in my life so let's try to keep it not too much higher than that.
Walk in would be sweet.
Bonus points for old timey Barber Shop feel.
Suggestions?
ETA:
help me look like this. I've already got the face and stuff. No skinny tie though.

Parkers in terrytown. It's worth the 10 minute drive once a month.

If cheap & old timey are the qualifications I think Golden Shears beats it out

There's a cheap old school place on Oak.

Go to Alonda at the 5.5 Salon. Better cut than Aidan gill for half the price, just no frills or pretense (you're not getting a complementary whiskey while you wait).

Family Barber on Oak. $15 and you get a back massage.

I second this.
If you go to Family Barber on Oak, make sure it's either Ed or the young guy who cuts your hair, not Ed's wife, and not Bud. Bud was a terrific barber back in the day, but he gets easily distracted now that he's 90. Just enjoy his Navy stories from WWII. (He's not there much anymore, if ever.)
If you go to Golden Shears on Magazine, go to the older guy, Ciro. The young guy is okay (I forgot his name. He's the son of the old owner, who retired.). Stay away from the two lady barbers there. They're not even as good as the young girls at Super Cuts.

This was suggested to me before. Going downtown is out of the way though and I don't feel like finding/paying for parking

Mr. Chills on Carrollton by the seminary.
$25 a pop for a haircut, so it's not for the poors.
But, they have a credit card reader which is golden if you don't have cash on your person

Family barber on Oak is my go to. It's the best. I get go to the younger guy every time.
