I'm no rules expert (seriously not at all), but that seems very close to leaving the base path. Am I crazy?

Same thing that I was thinking, especially on that last turn around towards the base. It seemed like he was in the grass. I don't know how far off you have to get for it to be illegal though or how that works at all really.

Can't believe they kept biting on that juke move. These guys are major leaguers, right?

They still don't expect a baserunner to come at them when they have the ball.

Clearly out of the base path but still some good jukes.

Base line isn't established until a tag attempt it made. It is established on his last lunge. He is not out of the baseline.

And you are wrong. He is easily out of baseline.

No, he is right. Here is the rule if you do not believe him:

quote:

7.08
Any runner is out when --
(a) (1) He runs more than three feet away from his baseline to avoid being tagged unless his action is to avoid interference with a fielder fielding a batted ball. A runner?s baseline is established when the tag attempt occurs and is a straight line from the runner to the base he is attempting to reach safely; or (2) after touching first base, he leaves the baseline, obviously abandoning his effort to touch the next base;
