@sam_amick: Another huge hit for Houston: I'm told Donatas Motiejunas is out for the season with his back injury. Story to come at @USATODAYsports

Rockets can't catch a break.

losing d-mo and beverley kills their chances. ugh. its too bad, theyve had a great season, just seems like everything is working against them right now.

Damn it. He was doing so well. He was about the only player on the team other than Harden who you could pass the ball to and he could rely on to score points. His post game is awesome.

This is strange, because his injury didn't seem that serious at the time.

I wouldn't go that far. Losing D-Mo sucks, but the fact is that the Rockets have had 3 capable PFs on the roster who were all splitting time.

They still have Terrence Jones and Josh Smith at PF.

Back pain that results in an ended season?

Maybe a herniated disk? I can't imagine he wouldn't play if surgery wasn't needed.

@ESPNSteinLine: Hearing Motiejunas has NOT had a setback but his injury simply isn't improving. Yet another tough injury blow for Rockets

He's been a pretty good backup C lately imo.

Not the worst thing. He can rebound his arse off, and D-Mo sucked at grabbing rebounds.

Dwight will be getting playoff minutes and Josh can fill in at center at times.

They'll be okay there.

He's right though. Dorsey has been pretty good lately.

I agree that there are solutions. But any way you look at it, the Rockets are a worse basketball team without Motiejunas getting minutes. The guy can really give a defense fits for stretches. I think he was potentially our secret weapon against Golden State.

He can also clank 6-8 ft's in a row to kill momentum during a hack-a-dorsey strategy.

You know it's coming against both Carlisle or Pop. He's a liability, and D'Mo's return eliminated that liability. I'm not in a panic, but this isn't good.

D-Mo was also a great option in the post while Dwight is on the floor. You can't double team and leave Dwight, and he would take advantage of that.
