I'm about to finally give in and get a Wii U. I've played a lot of TP but have yet to beat it. Mainly because it takes so freaking long and I don't have that much free time to devote to it without having to eventually start over because I have no idea what's going on anymore.
Looking at Wind Waker, the graphics look horrible compared to TP. Is the game play that much fun that it could be enjoyed after playing TP? Or should I stick to TP, Skyward Sword, and the new Zelda that may or may not come out eventually?

By the way, TP is the first Zelda game I've ever played so I have no sentimental attachment to any of the older games.

wind waker on the wii u was my first zelda. I'm now a big fan of zelda

I've heard the graphics are the biggest complaint about windwaker, but they've come to be more appreciated as time has went by. I was slightly put off by the graphics when I first started it, but they grew on me.

Wind Waker is the worst of the console Zelda games in my opinion. The Wii U makes it better by giving you the fast sail.

i started playing windwaker and did the first couple of dungeons before something else came out. i used a guide between dungeons because i dont have time to just guess where to sail. didnt seem bad. i didnt get to the infamous triforce quest though

If you don't go play OoT, MM, and LttP immediately I will reach through your computer screen and punch you.

I don't know my exact rankings for all of them, but Wind Waker is one of my favorites of the series. I loved the sense of exploration the game had. The Tri-force quest does feel like filler but the HD version's faster sail softens the blow at least.

Also, the graphics are timeless. Even the Gamecube version still looks good today.

So even though the graphics are terrible compared to current day consoles, these are worth playing for the first time? Should I just start with the original Zelda and work up from there?

I had a plan to play them all again in order before the new one comes for Wii U. Finished LoZ, including 2nd quest in a few days, but then got bogged down on Z2 and a little burnt out. Got into some other games in the meantime. Now I got to start over.

I'm not gonna answer your question. Just going to tell you I hate the premise

The premise being the graphics are horrible? Or the premise being playing them for the first time?

The graphics aren't terrible. They're from a different era, but within that framework they can look fantastic. Here's an example. TMNT for SNES, versus TMNT for PS3. No contest on graphical ability. Except the SNES version actually looks better to the eye IMO

The Zelda games are all incredibly polished and look good. Regardless, graphics don't make gameplay.

if there is one thing I can say about Nintendo titles, especially Zelda, it's that I really believe Nintendo knows what we want better than we do.

WW is so underrated. Just a brilliant game, nearly as good as OoT. And the story...so much more interesting than some of the others. OoT and ALttP are my favorites, but WW is easily right behind.

Personally, I loved Windwaker. I know a lot of people complained about the graphics, but I personally liked them. Way different than any Zelda game obviously. It was a different feel pretty much all the way around, but I enjoyed it.

I also think Majora's Mask is better is than the Ocarina of Time though.

Oh man don't get me started haha.

It's just a one of a kind game and the time element was something that had never been done before.
