Do you feel bad when you don't like a universally acclaimed show/movie?

There are 2 shows that are pretty much universally praised (and definitely so on this board) that I have really, truly given my best shot. I've watched 3 seasons of one (this was a while back), and am currently on season 3 of another, and I'm about to give up.

I do want to say that I am NOT saying these are bad shows. I can easily see that the writing, acting, etc are all extremely well done. It's easy to see why they are held in such high regard. They just aren't really my cup of tea. I've tried, I've sat and done my diligence to really try to get into them, but it's just such a chore to where I'm just waiting for an episode to end so I can watch something else.

It kind of makes me feel bad, like I'm really supposed to like it, I just can't. Does anyone else feel that way?

No, I feel like everyone else is stupid and low-class and doesn't understand why their universal love for said pile of shite makes them inferior to me.

Notice I didn't name the 2 shows, because I'm afraid if I did the answers would change from "nah, I'm with ya" to "WHAT!?!?! How could you not like those you moron!!!!???"

I watched a lot of Deadwood and never got into it.
The dialogue just got on my nerves.

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Game of Thrones for me. I don't get the appeal.

I couldn't stand Breaking Bad. Tried watching it. Not my cup of tea. Never given Mad Men, Walking Dead or that Saul show a watch, nor do I have a desire to. They just don't seem like they would appeal to me. I do love me some Deadwood, Justified and Suits, though. To each his own.

I don't feel bad when I don't like something. I don't care who else likes it. EVERYONE should be entitled to their opinion (especially when it's about something like a game, movie, or TV show) and not be ridiculed for it, but that's just the world we live in.

To each his own. Most of the board understands that. The sludge starts to build though when people can't look at something objectively, or understand an objective analysis about something that's why you "feel bad."

There's a difference between "hating" something for no reason, and having some legitimate reason for not liking something. I've not enjoyed some well liked shows, and one of my drives is to always find out why. I'm pretty interested in connecting personal experiences, thoughts on arts, and all that together to get at the core of the issue ESPECIALLY in these cases.

For me, see Game of Thrones. I've only given it one shot (and will most certainly give it another in the summer), but I can't stand that show, or the books for that matter. And I'm a big fan of fantasy. I don't go into the threads about the show to complain, unless it's more of a "public" thread, but I'm still interested in having that discussion. Why doesn't it connect? I'm like the poster boy for someone who should like that show.

I don't feel bad about not liking it, but I'd still like to know why.

Now, now. I only ask because he said he likes to know why people don't like something or hate it.

I guess I don't mean literally feel bad and it hurts my feelings. Just in some cases if you don't like a show that 99% of the population likes it's "what is wrong with you? How could you not like it?"
