Just watched it for the first time. It was a pretty good movie IMO. A whos who of HBO series actors as minor characters.

quote:the politics behind it make you want to bathe in bleach, but I can't deny a well crafted movie when I see one. I'm not saying it's great, I own it because I'm a sci fi junky.
Elysium
is Jurassic park action? what about horror? what about straight sci fi seeing as there is some science behind it (the half life of DNA ruins it, but whatever)Is it adventure fantasy? It can be any, but I think action would be the last one of those. I mostly view it as adventure (seeing as that's the tone the score and visuals definitely strive for) then horror and straight sci fi are kind of equal, then action.
I love it. Visually, it's incredible. I think charlize theron has no place in the movie and the sub plot could've been done with Michael. She was in it to sell tickets
then I think they could've been a little more clear(not crystal, that would ruin it)as to how the black goo functions.
It's an awesome movie, but I think Ridley HAD something great on his hands and it fell short. The opening shot is so gorgeous.

No matter what category it's in, it wins the category and yet you didn't even rank it on your list so... I don't know what that says about you

I always seem to be in the minority, but I thought Event Horizon was stupid.
I dug it when it came out. Rewatched a few months ago and holy hell it does not hold up at all. it was laughable.

there are a some movies on your list not on mine that appeared briefly before being deleted
I had idiocracy as honorable mention for comedy
I had predator as honorable mention for horror at one point
I decided to include Jurassic park because I couldn't decide what it was.
I did this with care. Even when you divide the genre, it's still tricky. Take idiocracy, it can go in 2 categories...I personally went with comedy as that is the main function of the film, but it's also dystopian future. Like the OP says, it's a diverse genre

In the TV section, did you mean to leave out Battlestar Galactica (recent one)?
