Hell if I know. Some poster said calling it a field trial was a mistake. I didn't argue.

Hunt test are UKC and closely match hunting situations.
Never done field trials but, field trials are AKC and there are things that are done that you probably wouldn't do while hunting.

HRC and AKC hunt test are supposed to resemble hunting situations. More so in HRC it's head to toe camo, shotgun at the line etc. Marked retrieves and blind retrieves are much closer with the furthest mark typically being less than 150. Also in hunt test its a pass or fail situation, the dog is competing against the standard of the tests the judges have prepared.

In field trials it's not uncommon for dogs to run 300+ yard marks. Dogs are competing against one another. Only 4 places are awarded 1st through 4th. So it's alot more competitive.

This is not an all inclusive list whatsoever, don't have time to type all the differences.
