Update- UVA Phi Psi to sue Rolling Stone over fake rape story

The damage done to that chapters rep will never be undone unfortunately. The retraction won't get near the attention that the original story did

I guess people still don't get it. Whether or not the story was true is completely irrelevant. It simply just helped perpetuate the narrative of rich white male privilege that RS and the author wanted to further.

The actual review from Columbia University was a systematic destruction of the process of the writer, her methods, and both the policy and process of Rolling Stone. They also noted that RS somehow still strained and defended themselves even after admitting to the massive clusterfrick.
The worst part is that Dana and their Fact Checking Supervisor along with Erdley's editor are LOCK STEP in putting out there in the piece that their reporting, editing, and fact-checking process need no overhaul.
Nobody loses their job. No policy or process changes. No real, substantive changes of any kind. It strains logic and credulity to see what they did, how they did it, and how it's viewed and dissected by absolute experts in their own field and compare it to their responses to that dissection.
Amazing.

How revolting. They make every effort to pin the blame on everyone else, and they refuse to accept any blame for their actions.
What pitiful cowards. They lack any measure of integrity.
I hope this haunts them for the rest of their days.

This is also a slap in the face for legitimate victims of sexual assault. Just terrible.

Fortunately, that might be overblown. Everyone at UVA will know it didn't happen. Outside of UVA, how many people could have told you which fraternity it was? I know I wouldn't be able to tell you it was Phi Psi if the OP hadn't put it in the title of the thread.
