Background for help:
- Job role is adding temp responsibility that includes SQL Server 2012.
- Role isn't DBA and is mostly infrastructure based.
- I have worked with MySQL on a Linux side, but not MS SQL Server.

I'm looking for mostly the basics, but from a Techie POV. A few bookmarked websites that have a simple overview, how to connect, troubleshooting and commands for the DB would be most helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Download the free preview of SQL Server 2014 from the Microsoft website and start playing with it... That is how I learned.

I use both MySQL and MS-SQL on a near daily basis and each has its place in the environment.

Everything in MS-SQL is done through the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (installed with SQL) and is 99% point-and-click.
