This is how bad you need to micro this game for some fights. 5 minute video and about 1 minute of fighting.

Pick a skill to level up each toon, I tried to go the balanced route and am screwed out of content because of it.

So I reached endgame, if you don't micro you cannot finish it. I will not complete this game, just like dying light I won't do shite I don't like.

I have 40 hours and loved it, worth the money until you get to endgame.

Aren't they developing a turn based addition to this game? Won't it alleviate some of the micro?

I like the micro managing. And if you keep an eye on all the ability bars, it's no different than turn based. In fact, it's better.

I have no complaints yet.

Haven't tried it out yet. I actually haven't been able to play it in awhile due to a heavy work load, but I have been keeping up with its news.

TLDR coming up.

I just finished the game, here are some things you should know. This was on easy mode.

-Pick a stat for each party member and focus on that, do not try to be a jack of all trades. I had a ton of conversation options I couldn't use because the trait wasn't high enough.
- Fill your party as soon as you can, things will be much easier.
- Crafting generally suck in this game, you can only craft pots, food, and scrolls and they all have such a short duration I didn't even mess with them.
-Enchanting is key to finishing the game, but do not enchant until you are near the end. To enchant weapons and armor will eat up the finite available mats and you cannot remove the enchantment. HUGE flaw in my book.
-Level cap is 12, once you are at this point you don't have to micro manage your party and you can beat anything with proper targeting order.
-HOLY shite use an enchanter, the songs they sing don't require an management at all, passive buffs.
-Money becomes a non issue in the last 1/4 of the game, I ended with like 80K unused, and probably another 80K in gear stored in my chest.
-There are certain party quests that you can't finish if that party member isn't in your group. I didn't finish one because I didn't want that party member in my group in act three.
-I had one quest I couldn't finish because of choices I had mad earlier in the game.
-Completing this game without looking up shite would take A LONG TIME, the quest text is very vague sometimes and there are some quests that require doing actions in a specific order.

I will come back and edit as I think of more. Bottom line I enjoyed the game and it was well done for an initial release.

If you don't like to micro get 3 tanks and the rest ranged. I say again use Enchanters, I have two and the passive buffs make up for not micro managing.

I was looking forward to starting this game soon when I had the time. You discouraged me bro.

Sell me on it. Of course I'm a huge fan of BG/BG2/IWD, etc.

The game is fun, it has flaws and I got it for $25 then put 60 hours in it. One thing that isn't apparent that caused some frustration with me was that if you try to do some quests without doing other quests first you will fail. I would recommend this game. Your decisions do matter and this game does not hold your hand, it's different (more like BG and NWN than any game I have played in a long time. You can get it for $45 on GMG and Steam to me the play time is well worth that.

Cool bro.

I downloaded a copy because I had the opportunity, but I would never play without paying. I will purchase on GOG most likely if I play. I prefer GOG over Steam in general.

All that said, I wanted some convincing. I read through the other thread as well. It would be a time sink for me and I wanted to know if it's worth it. A game like this peaks my interest like a CoH reboot. Just never know how it works out though.

I appreciate the  just need to find time to play, but I may go ahead and buy this week.

A couple of other games to keep your eye on.

Underworld Ascendant

An Ultima reboot of sorts.

Sword Coast Legends

Sword Coast looks amazing so far.

I don't think you can do it with the lash enchant or the critter bonus enchant, but you can overwrite all the other enchants later if you need to. Exceptional will overwrite accurate, damaging, or fine enchants, and superb will overwrite the others, so there is no real need to not enchant a nice weapon that you like.

And the lower level enchants use completely different mats than the upper, so not like you are using ones you would need later. I'd definitely hold on to the lash and critter buff enchant mats though, since the plants can be tough to get.

I haven't quite finished yet, just hit Act 3, but it seems pretty reasonable with a decent party setup on normal mode.

I'd definitely say a chanter is a must have, as well as ciphers making your life really easy. Fighter tanks are the way to go, and barbarians are crazy good dps as well. Monks and Paladins seem pretty worthless. I'd definitely stack your group with gun toting people first time around, and the combo of gun users and the chanters gun boosting verse is deadly.

I haven't read much of thie thread to avoid spoilers, but I've never played this type of game before.

Should I play Planescape: Torment or Baulders gate first since I can get it on the cheap to decide if I will like this type of game ?

Personally, I don't think PS:T aged well. But that's just me.

If you haven't played this type of game before, go play Baldur's Gate. It has a far deeper story than Pillars by a long shot and I'm talking about just Baldur's Gate 1, not the entire series. The gameplay is simpler (especially to anyone who understands basic D&D rules) to understand, too, and would make a great entry into this type of genre.

Go pick up the original set. Avoid the "Enhanced Editions" I thought they sucked.
