anyone been playing this game?
thinking about picking it up. looks fun
Update:
Just wanted to update my thoughts after beating this game.
I loved this game. Haven't enjoyed a game this much in awhile. The story, environments, music and game play meshed well. overall, the game felt like tweaked supermetroid tweaked with a more arcade style game play. The setting never let me feel completely comfortable. It had a eerie feel to it similar to the early parts of supermetroid, except it lasted the entire game for me.
The story is great. As you progress, the story gets deeper and makes you want to push forward. The game does a good job of getting the gist of the story across through short dialogue, but you can uncover notes and documents in secret areas which pain a better picture and give clues about the past.
They did a magnificent job of designing the map and integrating your tools and items to uncover new areas. Some of the tools are really cool and fun to use. There are lots of secret items, guns, and areas that you can uncover. I thought I thoroughly searched every area of the map but only ended up with 78% of the items upon completion.
I highly recommend this game to anyone who is interested. Well worth the price tag IMO. I spent 18 hours on it and could easily spent 20+ trying to get 100%. There is some replay value via a hard mode and speedrun mode. Its also nice to come back for a second playthrough and pick up on certain dialogue you may have missed before not knowing the whole story.

I may get it. I am a sucker for "metroidvania" type games.

It's been getting a lot of buzz. I want to play it, but I'm still knee-deep in BloodBorne.

Picked it up. About 4 hours in. Enjoying it thus far. Worth the $ imo
Gameplay is great. Controls are tight. If you liked any of the 2D metro is games, you will like this guaranteed. Story is interesting because it keeps you ignorant, leaving you wanting to press on the figure out wtf is going on. Environments and music create an atmosphere that works well. I like the music. It fits well with the games and changes up with different areas to avoid becoming stale or annoying. There are some clever weapons/power ups, enemies, and bosses. The game seems to get better as I progress.

Final Thoughts:
Typically, a game like this become more fun as you progress due to the accumulation of weapons, items, stats, etc. Axiom Verge does this, but the simultaneous progression of the story amplifies this.
Overall, I think that I personally enjoyed this game more than super metroid because of the story elements. I'm not saying it is a superior game, but I'm a sucker for story and plot in games and this one clicked with me.
