Mariota most likely to fall like Rodgers did.

Winston projection as #1 pick -
A. Do you think he flames out like JaMarcus Russell?
B. Do you think he's the next Luck/Manning?
C. Somewhere in between

Mariota projection as top 5 pick -
A. Do you think he slides and has similar Aaron Rodgers mobility and passing development and similar career arc?
B. Do you think he gets into a system that does not match his strengths and struggles?
C. Do you think he becomes great mobile QB in league?
D. Do you think he becomes a first round bust?

Mariota will be top 5 AND fall like Rodgers did?

Winston - somewhere in between
Mariota - Somewhere between a bust and just an ok QB

as long as #2 is a trade or somehow the Bucs take Mariota, then yes.

Winston is C, somewhere in between.

I still don't know why Russell is the first QB people pick to compare him to. They're nothing alike, at all.

Game reminds me of Roethlisberger or Leftwich more than anyone else. If he can keep his head on straight he'll end up somewhere in between what those guys did.

Mariota has no business going in the first round. People want him to be great because he's a humble guy more than anything else. Career backup is his ceiling IMO. He has outstanding mobility but doesn't throw well enough to use it at the NFL level.

Teams will take his mobility away and make him beat them from the pocket. I think the odds are stacked against you when you haven't taken a snap from under center until this year.

Yea Winston is nothing like Russell. The only thing I'm worried about is his accuracy. Top end he is Ben Rothlisberger.

I see Marcus as a Sam Bradford but hopefully he can stay healthier because he is a little bigger.

if he gets in shape he won't. Has to be willing to put in the time like Manning/Brees

My guess right now:

Winston--poor man's Big Ben/slightly less of a player. Hell, if all goes right, he could be as good as him.

Mariota--slightly better than Colin Kaepernick

I can't link the stat but I remember seeing that Joe Flaccid took the most snaps under center and 36 percent in gun. Rivers was at 94 percent under gun.

Not that college stats is everything, but 25td/18int with FSU's talent in the ACC is pretty weak.

Mostly was his WR's and RB's making big plays.

His baseball form delivery is a a big red flag too.

Really?

You say you don't understand why people compare him to Russel then say he is more like Roethlisberger?

Jamarcus Russell was constantly compared to Roethlisberger when he was drafted.

Jamarcus Russell = similar to Big Ben

Winston = similar to Big Ben

Russell = similar to Winston

Duh

Winston will be great.

Is it really a "slide" for Mariota? ESPN pimped him at #1 for months. But he's not THAT good and shouldn't be drafted that high. I think he's a career backup.

What do Russell and Winston have in common other than being big and a bit flabby?

I think he'll have a Cam Newton/Jay Cutler type of career. Not elite. At time he will look very good. At times, he'll be considered a failure. But he has enough talent to always be a starter in league.

They are both black Bama boys that will be #1 picks in the NFL and play the same position

Which has nothing to do with comparing them as players.

I think if we took pics of all NFL QBs we'd see a decent bit of flab amongst the numbers. It's a weak correlation at best.

In Winston I see a hard working, two sport athlete that's respected his craft for years. In Russell I see a physically gifted slug that never loved football and only played because he was good at it.

I didn't say they play the same way. He asked what they had in common.
