Prepare yourself. The big one is coming.

Southeast Missouri and neighboring states were shaken late last night by a magnitude 4.0 earthquake.

The United States Geologic Survey says the magnitude 4.0 earthquake happened at 10:51 p.m. Wednesday night in Missouri’s Bootheel.

The quake was centered near Steele in the state’s southeasternmost county of Pemiscot at more than seven miles below the ground.

The National Weather Service said there were no reports of damage as of late last night.

The quake occurred near the heart of the New Madrid seismic region, where the most powerful recorded earthquakes occurred in the early 1800s.

Whoa.

Same local as the earthquake that reversed the miss river flow, correct?

Same fault line. New Madrid has been overdue for a major one.

Interesting. I wonder if they'll even mention that.

I really like Memphis and other parts of that region but I don't think I could live there because I'd always be in fear of the New Madrid.

Where are you hearing this? Because the USGS says it's an earthquake.

I remember when I was a kid some guy came out saying a New Madrid mega-earthquake was imminent. We had to do earthquake drills in school. I'm still waiting 25 years later. There is something like a 90% chance of it happening in the next 50 years.
