Anyone with info or a link to it? Does it still stand? A family member had TB 1949-1952ish. Spent a year there. This was of course back in the sanitorium days.

The info I find on it is spotty and websites are junk sites. Links to nowhere or paid sites.

Took 30 minutes to realize I am a dipshit and this site probably has a guy who knows it all about the place or has pics?

It's on Greenwell Springs Road. Cross Magnolia Beach Road, and it's on the right a few miles down.
When you pass Hooper Road, you're right there.

They're going to tear it down. There are plans to build something else there.

I passed by the hospital about 2 months before they closed....talk about outdated.......

I can only imagine what it looks like at East in Jackson....always wanted to go see the campus for some reason

I worked there, GSH, in late eighties, early nineties. Very interesting place and some hardened kids. I taught a bunch of them to fish the oxbow right behind it and caught more than a few lunkers there myself. ECT, thorazine shuffle holla yo...

When gramps would go on a three day bender, Grammy got tired of that shite and he would wake up there for a shockingly good time.

Sadly, I think he always felt betrayed but slightly enjoyed it.

It's still there. Supposedly the state has donated it to the central community school system to build a new high school. The retards running that school system will frick it up for sure. Dont let the school ratings fool you, that shite they are running out there is a sham.

Which section you cover? Social Isolation on level 0 is no fun

This reply is outdated as I just read your response. I viewed Greenwell Springs sanitarium 2 decades ago, after it had been a T.B. Sanitorium from 1930's to 1960's. It was located on Greenwell Springs Rd in Denham Springs. Interesting fact that my mother was a T.B. patient there from 1949 to 1951, the same time as your relative. They may have been acquainted.
Property appears to now be under construction as a new high school needed in Central, LA.

That place was always creepy looking. I remember seeing the "do not pick up hitchhikers" signs on the way to Holiday Acres as a kid.

I used to live directly across from it. We actually bought the acerage from the Heart and lung Association.

It’s tore down now and supposedly it’s going to be a park.

Were y'all Holiday Acres members - aka the redneck country club? Spent many of a summer day at that place as a kid

No we bought land on JL Fairchild rd right behind the houses on GS rd which is directly across from it.

I contracted that house myself and loved the house, land, and neighbors. Too bad we had to move.
