Poorly stated on my part. But compared to Frankfurt and Berlin it maintains it's integrity. The other cities feel like they're 60 years old in parts. Frankfurt to me seemed like Kansas City, whereas Munich was the French quarter.

2 Olympic stadium and park around it were most interesting thing to be.
same here. I also liked the Marienplatz the best, but we were there during Christmas so it had all the Christmas markets up.

The English Garden was cool too.

Munich is a cool city. We just walked a shiz ton, stopped at a place for a beer or a bite to eat, and walked around some more.

Thanks for the suggestions! Going to be in salzburg for several days before and also seeing Fussen and the castle on the drive to Munich.

1. Take Mike's basic bike tour. Covers most of the sites.
2. Hang out in Viktualienmarkt
3. Walk in Hofbräuhaus. Look around. Laugh at tourist.
4. Walk across the street and eat/drink at Augistiner am Platzl.

Respectfully disagree

==========

For the OP, tigerfan311 hit some great suggestions. There are also a ton of sidetrip ideas, but you're already doing Fussen & the castles so you may be good on that.

ETA: Viktualienmarkt has a great biergarten right in the old town. Can hang with plenty of locals there.

Getreidegasse is the main shopping street, lots of tourists there but it's a nice stroll. Can stop in the Spörer schnapps shop...hundreds of varieties.

Make sure to go up to the top of the fortress in the old town for some great views of the city, and then head down to the Augustiner Braustubl...My favorite biergarten anywhere (and that includes anything in Germany).

Residenz is the best attraction I'd say. There is an Egypt Museum that is good if you are into that sort of thing. And go to a beer garden with Augustine beer, by far the best beer in town.

dafuq? It was greatly damaged in the war. It was essentially the seat of the Nazi party and was heavily fire-bombed.

No. Compared to other big german cities, it was not seriously damaged. The western cities were obviously easy targets. Hamburg and Berlin were hit the hardest and Leipzig and Dresden were both hit to create confusion in the Russians advance.

Dachau and then a beer hall to pull you out of your hate for humanity.

Dachau was definitely worth the effort if you've never visited a concentration camp, Munich wasn't that much different than the rest of the German towns I visited

Go to the beer hall where Hitler staged his first coup that ultimately failed. It's a Nazi landmark lol

The famous Nazi beer hall was torn down some time ago. I'm talking...around 30 years ago.
