When two high school kids, regardless of gender and age, get busted for fooling around, no one should go to jail.

It beyond ridiculous.

I agree. But if there is going to be a law against it one gender shouldn't be treated differently than the other.

BTW, the write up is creepy. Reads as if the writer was probably typing with one hand.

This is borderline. 14 is awfully young.

Doesn't Louisiana have a "Romeo and Juliet" law that exempts an age difference of two years or less?

Wrong. I knew plenty of male seniors (17) dating freshmen girls(14). It's only 3 years and they're high schoolers. The 14 yr old girls are probably more mature than the 17 yr old guys.

Both minors but there is a 2 year age difference which means stat rape (if facts are true)

Says they charged her with sexual battery of a minor. That's eligible for a ten year stretch.

The state isn't required to prosecute, is she?

Seems like there's more to this story than what's here, like she lured him into this or something.

This. It's as simple as that. She's too old and that makes it rape. Consent has nothing to do with it.

Do you consider 14 and 17 to be two years, or less?

Also, they said she is an adult, at 17. Then why is she called "The girl" in the article 5 times? Can she not afford a name?

And if 17 is an adult, where is she going for drinks after she votes?
