That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about fat adults and they're not uncommon. They're not morbidly obese but there's plenty of fat Africans in Northern and Western Africa.

I watched an episode of this a coupe weeks ago it was pretty disturbing. These people are taking in about 10,000 calories per day. Literally everything they eat is incredibly bad for you. Ranch dressing on EVERYTHING. How do they not know anything about Nutritional facts?

the fattest area of Africa is generally accepted to be South Africa and the rates are around 10-15%....about half of the rate in the US

It's crazy.

One lady weighed over 800 pounds. The doctor told her that she had to eat 55,000 calories a day, just to maintain her weight.

Yes but he used hyperbole, which I proved to be incorrect. Africa is a HUGE place. In many countries they have access and money to buy the same shitty "food" products we do (soft drinks, etc). That was my point.

But for the purposes of BMI, it doesn't matter. It's not about looks.

Exactly. It should be about health and body composistion. Bmi is a terrible indicator of both.

BMI is a terrible indicator of stuff that it's not intended to be an indicator for?

SHOCKING

I don't believe its a disabililty as in just being obese does not mean you are disabled, but being morbidly obese to the point where you are 500+ pounds, can be disabling. Meaning a person can become disabled by being obese.

Dude, WEIGHT, MASS is hard on the body. To an extent, it doesn't matter the composition of that mass. That's what BMI is measuring.

firstly it's meant to be used among population because of individual variance

secondly, it's a guideline not a rule

you cannot tell with 99% accuracy how healthy someone is by their BMI, but you can make certain assumptions

I know I weigh more now than I did last year when I ran the CCC. I've been doing free weights every time I've ran over the past year and I've went from about a 42 chest to a full 44. I'm curious if this going to slow my blistering 9 minute pace.
