I bring this up because of something that happened at the LSU game last night. My brother and I took our father, who had his leg amputated last year to the game and sat in ADA seating. We made sure to call ahead to get the seats. Around the second inning, 3 rather obese people come up looking for seats and there is only 2 available in our section. They seemed to be put out and asked if my brother or I wouldn't mind standing. I told them no and just they just went on their way.

I just don't believe obesity is a disability and to use it as so is an excuse. Opinions?

It's not a disability; and that comes from someone who needs to lose weight.

frick no. Some people are dealt a bad hand with their genes, but if you truly want to not be obese, you can achieve that.

No.

I guess technically you could argue that it is a disability but it is a self caused one (in nearly all cases) and one that can be "cured" if the person only wanted to. But no, it shouldn't take disabled seats, parking, etc from people with actual disabilities.

Are you sure they didn't have anything else wrong with them besides just being fat?

One of those tricky areas.
For 10% probably.
For 90%, "eat less and exercise fat asses."

The 10% is why we have to be careful.

obesity is self caused medical impairment that if severe enough can be disabling

I think it's pretty obvious

Only in rare cases where the person has medical issues that they cannot control. Most fat people are just lazy and do not exercise at all.

I'd say yea its a disability. But it's usually self-inflicted and easily curable unless caused by something like a thyroid issue.

I think in some people it can be a mental disability. Some people have serious issues with food.

There are a lot of poor africans that are fat. But they're fat for the same reason our fat people are fat.

I'm a complete fatass and it is in no way a disability. Lost 30 lbs since new year and will continue on. Being fat is shameful. Problem is, too many people are beginning to accept it.
