So it's the universities fault that LSU is only 12% black?

Everyone knows that the student body at a flagship institution of higher learning should be perfectly representative of the general population, duh

I can see a minority getting offended over some stuff that a white person may say in regards to the topic of racism. It does exist (although not on the scale it is portrayed sometimes), and sometimes people try to deny that, which could be aggravating as a minority.

quote:

Our campus is more diverse than ever: an entire 12 percent of the LSU student body is black. Though LSU is the flagship university of a state that is 33 percent black and is located in a city that’s 55 percent black according to the latest census, and as the flagship would ideally reflect the racial breakdown of the state much more closely — progress is still progress.

But this shite is ridiculous. You think LSU is systematically not letting black people into the university? First, the 12% represents the national percentage very closely. Second, is it the university's fault there are not worth applicants. It's a state school. Meet the requirements, and you are in. There's a deeper reason behind why those percentages are what they are, and there's no one to blame outside of the family and the student.

That's funny bc as a middle class white male it's nearly impossible to receive a scholarship due to most requirements being that you must me a minority or from a low income family.

I call bullshite... from 2011…maybe it changed for you sorry...my parents just cut a check each semester...sorry your moms and pops cannot or will not. My folks did cut me off at the graduate level.

No, it's what happens when people think they only need to be precise when dealing with engineering or mathematical problems. How long before we have another thread on how useless a humanities education is?

Ever thought that white people are more deserving of those scholarships than other races? May be hard to wrap your head around, but just try it. It should have nothing to do with race. Whoever is the most deserving person for a scholarship should receive it, with race or sex never being involved in a decision.

Sure my "nearly impossible" statement was a stretch. But the charts and tables you posted shows who received scholarships. Not who applied or qualified for them. My point wasn't that whites aren't receiving more scholarships, it was that minorities have a much larger opportunity than they think.

Just go look up scholarships. There's quite a large portion that are dedicated strictly to diversity and minorities. Not to mention that most of all scholarships are for low income families.

I would ask her what the demographics are of Southern University. Baton Rouge is 45% white. Is Southern excluding white students because they're racist?

lets all be real, Ive heard many racist comments from many people on campus. Tigerland is racist and so is Kappa alpha. I visited other colleges in other states and they arent as segregated. I saw asians hanging out with blacks and whites . At LSU look closely, how many mixed groups do you see?

But i think most white people at LSU arent racist tho, the article is just a trolling attempt. But its better then the womens rights bullshite

So she married at 21 while still in college? That's not very progressive of her.

I wonder if she makes her husband pay for his white devil sins in the bedroom via face-sitting with that chocolate covered cherry.

This. When I was trying to find financial aid for grad school I wasn't eligible for shite since I was a white male from a middle class background. But there were lots of aid packages for other racial or gender classifications alone. Of course, that kind of discrimination is ok and morally justified according to their hypocritical and self serving belief systems.
