Some people think the 3 freshman will start (assuming we get Newman).

Some people think it's preposterous that you would start 3 freshman and send returning starters to the bench.

All I know is Simmons is a lock to start. So is Newman(if we land him). Both guys are projected to be top 5 picks in the 2016 NBA draft. And Blakeney might be the best pure scorer on the team.

It sucks sending returning starters to the bench but fact is, if we land all 3 they would be our best 3 players right off the bat so gotta play em

Why is it preposterous for us to start 3 freshman when high profile teams around the country do this often?

Our whole team may not be there yet but our recruiting class sure as hell is.

Only the uninformed.

I think Hornsby would excel off the bench in the 3 fresh lineup

I'm not 1 of the people that thinks it's preposterous to send returning startets to the bench for 3 freshman. I think all 3 should start.

But there have been some threads like this in the past few weeks and some people think that there's no way that you start 3 freshman and send returning starters to the bench.

And I disagree 100%. IMO, the only guard that keeps his starting spot is TQ because of his length and defense.

But I hope that Robinson can give us some quality minutes next year. We really need a true Center.

Agree with most, assuming (big if) Newman signed the starting 5 would likely be the three freshman, plus Victor and TQ.

Either Quarterman or Hornsby will be great in the 6th man role leading the 2nd unit. TQ probably needs to start as he'll be one of our 5 best guys, but he'd be great in a Manu Ginobili role leading the 2nd unit.

Would love to see JJ deploy some 2nd unit lineups that feature Patterson and Hornsby playing with Simmons, filtering the offense through Ben and utilizing his passing ability along with their ability to catch and shoot.

JJ will have plenty of options and we should be able to feature a multitude of styles depending on the opponent.

While we would never take all 5 starters out at once, Gray, Patterson, Hornsby, Epps, and Robinson is not a bad second 5.

Hornsby starts over TQ for his ability to shoot from 3 and his much better consistency.

Well have several 20+ minute players so I don't think it'll matter much.

Newman and Blakeney can shoot the 3 just as good, if not better, than Hornsby. And Simmons can knock it down as well.

We would have enough guys that can shoot from deep next year than TQs versatility, defense, and length would be more important than adding another shooter in Hornsby.

And Hornsby would be great coming off the bench with his ability to shoot the 3 and score.

I don't think people realize how good blakeney is, which is why they don't expect him to start as a freshman. Tone will be the best shooter on the team and he's quick as hell to attack the basket. Newman and simmons would start no doubt. I know hornsby is a senior but I think he'll be coming off the bench along with patterson / TQ. They'll all rotate and get a lot of minuyes though so it doesn't necessarily matter who is starting.

Hornsby will not be coming off the bench.
