Will be same situation as this year.

Will barely make tourney and get bounced early.

People don't realize that this is probably what's gonna happen. If they would have stayed we would have been damn good but it will just be more of the same.

There was a reason he didnt play much at AZ. Yes, he was behind some good players. But he was expected to make a bigger impact, and wasn't able to. For a reason.

Yeah, his mom got sick so he had to leave school 8 fricking games into his career. There's your reason. He may or may not be a good player, but the conclusion you drew from his time in Arizona is just as unsupported as the straw man you're beating up of the alleged people you think are saying he will automatically succeed.

With that being said, it isn't a surprise that you don't understand that the reasoning is what was being compared, not the careers of Victor and Wiltjer.

my opinion is rather neutral, actually. Let's see him prove it before we think we can count on him.

So we are keeping our entire back court -- who will get better... Adding a top 5 SG and possibly the top combo guard from high school.

Adding the #1 PF in the class and another solid big who was stuck behind 2/3 future NBA players...

And have some promising athletes who could make a big jump with an off-season, but somehow we won't be any better?

Some people just dont understand.

neutral as far as what he becomes at LSU.

I dont think he was very good during his stint at AZ, but he is talented. It's a wait and see thing now.

We lose our 2 best and really only 2 big men and gain 2 for next year if the backups from this year don't improve enough for next year we will be about in the same boat as this year. Johnny has to find 2 more quality bigs or we will waste another year as this past year. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt next year but if this will always be a reoccurring theme year after year then JJ will be gone in 2 years from now. The ball is in your court Bullet. Gif ER done or step aside and let a better coach git ER done

And who are the big men? I sure hope Malone becomes a man over the next year.

well, we lost 2 of the top 3 rebounders in the SEC. Victor isn't as good of a rebounder as Mickey or Martin. So we'll see how we fare.

we'll have to play small a lot. We don't really have a true big man.

With only one player over 6'5, Notre Dame had this challenge as well and still had a pretty good season.

Player for player, the loss of Martin is at minimum, canceled out by the gain of Simmons. Martin was a good college player and just starting to become a great college player at the end of this season. But frankly, Simmons should be everything we hoped Martin would be

Mickey is a big loss. While he may never be a great pro (who knows), he was the most impactful of the two throughout their careers. As others have pointed out, his on ball defense wasn't always great (or even good at times), but he was a presence inside. The fear of his shot blocking abilities (not seen here since Tyrus Thomas) altered shots and many times changed opponents' plan of attack against LSU. Plus, he was an outstanding rebounder and (absent the last month) a good finisher at the rim.

Victor is an unknown right now. I think he can come in and help fill the rebounding void and possibly the offense, but nothing I've seen from him indicates he can be the rim-protector Mickey was (not many can at the college level). Also, at least at this point, he will only be eligible for half of next season

Mickey gave up some buckets, but he also made up for A LOT of defense lapses by his teammates. Sadly, for many his impact won't be appreciated until next season. LSU might be as skilled as ever on the offensive side next season. However, with 2 (possibly 3) freshman playing a big role on the team and Musselman moving on, I worry about the defensive side of the ball. LSU was VASTLY improved on D this season. Will that continue? It will have to if LSU has any desire to move further than the 1st round of the NCAAT.

epps will be an important piece next year IMO

biggest thing is he'll have a whole summer where he isn't rehabbing a knee injury. expect a step forward.

Im certainly not giving up on Robinson who should have redshirted to get his body fully conditioned to play the way LSU wants to. Epps looked like a pretty good player in limited time, and there were moments (though small) where I felt like Malone could be a decent center for us. A few solid passes and rebounds this past year but couldn't put it all together.

Hopefully one of those guys joins Victor and Simmons.

Didn't thomas redshirt due to a neck injury ?

Epps couldn't practice almost the entire off-season due to injury. Robinson was busy losing like 75 pounds... What he practiced as a 300+lb guy doesn't even translate to that much of a difference in body.

Expect to sign ray kasongo and possibly another big perhaps a grad student...also dont forget about epps, elbert has a chance at a good future if he sticks with it. Darcy and bridge can chip in here and there. I actualy think bridge could be a soph sleeper next year if that midrange game continues to develop.
