"On April 30, the Impastato family will sell the business and building to New Orleans restaurateur Ralph Brennan -- a move that will end more than 100 years of ownership for the Impastato family."

I get your general sentiment, but at the same time, I hope he doesn't do too much to alter the place. I sort of dig the basic idea of it as it is conceptually. However, I definitely agree that it could use a push in the right direction as far as execution of what they're doing.

I certainly would hate to see it turned into something like SoBou or Tableu, though.

oh no, I totally agree, and I don't care what anyone says, I love that roast beef poboy, but the family, I've had issues with them twice as a patron (once with a party upstairs)

they aren't really all that "on the ball", the most basic things with them were difficult. They're really nice people, I just got the impression they were all kind of scatter brained and didn't know what they were doing, and they certainly aren't punctual

I worked at the royal orleans for 6 years back in the 90s we were in that place all the time. My favorite bar in the city

Sal Jr could be a little rough around the edges but he always took great care of regulars. I had a huge party upstairs the night before my wedding and people still talk about it

I hope they don't clean it up or impose a bunch of rules on the service, it's classic New Orleans just like it is, a dump that you can go back to after years and find it still the same

I had my wedding reception on the 2nd floor. I know the restaurant isn't always up to great service or quality food standards, but the reception service and quality is TOP of the line. Great family, and they provided an exceptional level of detail and over-the-top service to us.

Yeah, I think it would just weird me out to see them try to Brennan-fy the service there.

I've been to that place twice and it's sucked both time. This can only be good news.

This will be interesting to watch. I hope it works out well. I don't go there much at all, but it's an establishment that would seem to benefit with a little updating, maybe some additional menu items. I'm not sure I'd want to see it change too much. I like to duck in there for a drink or two.

A sad day for me. In case you didn't know, NH had rooms for rent above the restaurant/bar, and that's usually where I'd stay whenever I come to town. I doubt that will continue under the new ownership.

The last time I went the food was okay but the service lacked. It seems like I picked a bad time to sit and eat, because while the waiter wasn't attending to me, he sat at a table with other waiters and ate his lunch. I sure wish they would have seated me after he ate.
