New Orleans Restaurant Recommendations

I am planning a bit of an Easter extravaganza which will revolve around both taking in the sights and sounds of New Orleans as well as dining on some of the most delicious cuisine available in the state.
I plan on eating like a king on Friday and Saturday, but I am working with the budget of a serf.
As of right now, I have compiled a list of potential eateries. Please feel free to critique these options and offer any better suggestions if need be.
My main concerns are: affordable eating, unique food (dining options unavailable in Baton Rouge), good atmosphere, and, most importantly, quality cooking.
I'm staying with my grandparents in Metairie but I will be visiting the Zoo and possibly NOMA on Friday. Saturday, I will probably make my way down to the CBD to check out the Confederate Memorial Museum and the Ogden.
The neighborhoods I have to work with are: Mid City, Uptown, Audubon, the Garden District, CBD, and Metairie.
Here is my list thus far (bold indicates definite stops):
Creole Creamery
District Donuts
Angelo Brocato Ice Cream & Confectionery
Katie's Restaurant & Bar
Cafe Carmo
Lebanon's Cafe
Cafe Abyssinia
Magasin Cafe
Ba Chi Canteen
Lilly's Cafe
Chef Ron's Gumbo Stop
Bear's Poboys
Chill Out Cafe
Milkfish

Budget wise, Peche belongs on your list.
Might consider Lola in Mid City.
La Casita, Warehouse Dist.
Pizza Domenica for HH, Uptown

Might as well throw in Herbsaint and Butcher to complete the triumvirate.

Throw out Magasin. It's the worst of the three vietnamese you named. I'd probably go with Lily's.
I like Chef Ron's but it's a place you go to for lunch if you're in the area, I wouldn't go out of my way at all for it. Not a good atmosphere at all, although he doesn't have much to work with.

Damn, it looked the most appealing. What's so bad about it?

This is sort of a last resort means of appeasing my family if we decide to grab dinner in Metairie. I would prefer to eat somewhere closer to New Orleans Proper if given the choice.

It's not bad, the others are better imo.

My girlfriend is an art history major so I figured she would enjoy the art at both NOMA and the Ogden. Plus, we could look at the botanical gardens in City Park.
It's kind of my thing as well. We will probably walk around a good bit and just take in the city.
My younger siblings will be tagging along so I can't get too risque with my plans.

I'll keep that in mind.
If we're talking non-fried seafood, which restaurants would be some of the best?

I'm not a Butcher pusher, and Herb isn't in the same price range.

PECHE!!!!!
I agree with Earl on the Bevi. Never been to Chef Rons.
Kim Ahn is the best Viet in town but it's out near Elmwood in Harahan. I'd also throw out Oak Oven in that area.
