hoping to do some fishing in the gulf this summer and want to know the best way to avoid sea sickness...will have kids with me.

I know about Dramamine, Bonine, wristbands, patch, etc...what is the best? Do any of these make you markedly drowsy?

Thanks.

Different strokes for different folks. The patch behind the ear worked best for me.

Just make sure everyone drinks A LOT of water. Gotta stay hydrated out there.

I grew up on the water so I don't get it, but people that I've been with say taking Dramamine and wearing the wrist band help.

Call your doctor and get him to call you in a script for motion sickness patches. By far the best way to eliminate without any side effects.

Dramamine

You're going to need to take it in advance. Check with some other guys to see how far ahead, ~6hrs?

I believe there was one other med on the markets to combat sea sickness? Forgot he name.

Don't drink all night with fellow OB'ers. Get some sleep and stay hydrated. You don't want a hangover to set in at 8 am. Trust me.

2 Bonine at least an hour before you set foot on the boat

Eat! Keep a full stomach. Sammiches, chips, etc.

Dramamine sucks

Bonine if you really need something and as hat stated. Eat frequently.

Get really fricked up the night before and blame your seasickness on the alcohol

Dramamine. Works like a charm. Take two before you go to bed the night before, then two more when you wake up. This works for me every time.

Non drowsy Dramamine or bonine ... patches work but some people have very bad reaction to it (its a hallucinogen – so try it in a controlled environment before you are on the water)

Never been sea sick before but when I go offshore, I always wear the patch behind ear. Not sure if it really works but I always feel better knowing that I have it on.
I also think it's different for each person. Try a different one for each kid and see which works best..

Last time I went, partied till 1:30am, got up at 4:00am still drunk. Started puking on way out, dry heaved all day until we got back. Would have rather had the flu, it was horrible. Had to hand off a cobia a few times to puke.

Been sticking to specs & reds since then.
