for whatever reason the dudes face melting bugged me the most, same in raiders of the lost ark I couldn't watch those scenes as a kid

Yeah that was messed up. But if I remember correctly his face didn't melt off like the Nazi's face in Raiders of the Lost Ark, rather he ripped it off.

Full scene here. Action starts at 1:30 mark.

Bunch of movies back in late '70s and early '80s were PG that were maybe on the fence in regards to ratings. It was before PG-13 came out. PG-13 came out in 1984 due to Gremlins and Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom. Poltergeist came out in 1982. Smokey and the Bandit was PG with everything it had in it.

I think that was probably the first movie I ever saw that showed "normal" respectable family people smoking weed. Before that it was mostly people like Cheech and Chong.

It has something to do with the backstory of the hotel that was in the book but never mentioned in the movie.

Here you go>>>

The scene is taken directly from Stephen King's novel. In one of the novel's scenes set in the 1920's party, Jack is dancing with a beautiful woman. He notices that at one table, there is a young man behaving like a pet dog for the amusement of others, including a tall, bald man.

The bald man is Horace Derwent, a Howard Hughes-like figure who poured millions into restoring the Overlook Hotel in the 1920's. (Jack has learned this by reading a mysterious scrapbook earlier in the novel.) The younger man has a romantic crush on the bisexual Derwent, and Derwent has said that 'maybe', if the man dresses like a nice doggy, and acts like a nice doggy, he 'may' be willing to sleep with him.

I'm excited for this remake. It's about time hollywood started making kid friendly horror again. This will be rated PG-13 and will be in 3D.

Sam Rockwell said it will be “more of a kids movie,” with the main character being a 10-year-old boy. He also described it as being “more of an adventure"

I saw the trailer for this a couple nights ago.

I have to admit, it looked pretty fricking creepy and well-done. It has at least my partial interest so far.

First PG-13 moves was Red Dawn. Speilberg was the reason for PG-13 when he made IJTOD and produced Gremlins. After some backlash from those movies by parental groups, he suggested PG-14. In the end, it was chosen to do PG-13. After all this, none of his movies were re-rated to the new rating. I can remember when PG-13 became the new thing. Movie industry liked the idea because R was for adults where PG was considered kid movies. Now PG-13 let the teenage group have their own rating of movies.
