I for one would love to see a non biased comparison of universities on performance. Budget, outcome, expenses, and other. This has to be available. Are we spending more per student credit hour received and if so are outcomes better? If not what is that delta and how do we resolve it?

So let me flesh out a vein of thought I am seeing here... State governments should not be in the higher education business. People who do not utilize colleges and universities should not be required to pay for them. So make LSU a private university then? Look, I get that waste should be dealt with. I'm all for that. But not at the expense of having a world class university. I don't want the Southwest Airlines of colleges. In Louisiana the entire system is too large, and resources are spread too thin among too many schools. But because of POLITICS, nothing will ever be done to kill off any of the piglets at the teat.

I think you mistakenly responded to me with you thoughts, because I literally did not post any of this.

He's a bigger hack than Bob Mann. You may as well quote Dead Breitbart.

Dig into his numbers and you'll find the bullshite.

Exactly. Remove all the research and liberal arts and they'll run just as efficiently as the for profit (and dependent on taxpayer subsidies) U of Phoenix.

La has a revenue problem. Jindal cut income tax rates 50%, he's given corporate exemptions out the wazzu, and he didn't compensate for it with sales tax rates. Personally I would go the Tx/Fla route- property taxes and sales tax and no income tax.
It is obvious when the economy is strong as La's has been and revenues are low, it's a revenue problem. Supply side, as always, did not work.

Do you people really believe that we should operate our flagship university like a no-frills airline?

Seems to work well enough for Southwest. Show me numbers and how the money is being used, then I'll tell you if I think it's no-frills. You're belief that LSU is really in this bad a shape is delusional.

If you believe that "LSU's budget is so bloated with bullshite" you are deluded

I don't think anyone believes it's that bloated but there is always room for cuts, ask any company in the oil and gas industry right now. Take this Mass Com professor that is making $120,000 to teach two freakin classes. He is the only teacher we have looked at, guarantee there is plenty more like him at LSU.
