Whether it be a 12 ga or 9 mm...is it the number of rounds put through or just the age of it that would dictate it?

I would say it's probably once a year but all at different times, and some probably never get cleaned. I should do better

I do (almost) after every range trip. When Hunting, after a dirty, nasty day or after three or four not-so-nasty days in the woods.

I'm much more a cleaning-snob with my sidearms.

After every time I shoot them. But if on a multi-day hunt, it's just a quick swab and wipe down at the end of the day.

Once prior to whatever season it is.
Once after whatever season it is.
Rainy day or a muddy trip are the exceptions

depends really on what I am doing with it...and when the next hunt is planned...

basically, I clean at the end of every season and after any "rough service" type hunt (i.e. get rained on, muddy, or if I am hunting around salt water...

if it is pretty dry and I plan to hunt again within the next few days, I will skip...

Shotgun (Beretta A400) -- wipe down the piston & chamber ~ once every 700-800 rounds. Take it down for a "full" cleaning ~ once every 1500 rounds.

Handgun (Glock 19) - Range gun (clone of my carry gun) gets cleaned ~ once every 1000-1500 rounds.

Handgun (Glock 19) - Carry gun gets cleaned every time I shoot it.

Shield - (BUG) Gets cleaned every time I shoot it.

AR, AK, .22's etc. get cleaned if they start to jam. I really don't shoot them very much.

People who own Glocks will have a different answer than people who own Pythons.

i clean mine during a rainy shitty day where I am imprisoned inside the house and maybe just watching TV. Grab a few, clean, grab a few more. I clean handguns immediately after use though.

My guns get wiped down every time they leave the house (except the carry)
Every gun gets broken down and cleaned top to bottom on the first Saturday after the winter hunting seasons end.

I don't understand the concept of not cleaning a gun after shooting it, even if after only 50-100 rounds on a range day.

I was raised to treat my firearms as collectors items even though they weren't collectibles. They were cleaned after every outing immediately upon getting home from the range/hunt and I still do that till this day.

Glock 19- probably every 500 rounds or so. I do check it out and clean all the crap/dust/lint out whenever it builds up as needed though.

AR- hardly ever gets cleaned, mainly whenever I feel like it, probably matches the glock.

Custom 260- around 500 rds or whenever accuracy falls off. This is when I clean the barrel. I'll clean then chamber, bolt, etc. as often as I shoot it, but touch my barrel and we'll probably fight.

Cleaning is all relative. Do you strip all of the copper out of the barrel? Or are you just wiping it down getting the dust off?

My guns get cleaned when I out shoot them, typically around 500 rounds. However, they are rarely ever literally dirty, unless during a match. I try to keep the action and bore covered with a towel or case. Some of these matches have dust that can take a gun out, so keeping the gun running is a huge priority. So in that case I'm always cleaning, but not "cleaning" as defined here, or conversely I rarely "clean" my guns yet they are always clean.

Stephan King once wrote" shoot the gun, clean the gun. If the gun misfires you break the gun do." More or less. I try my best to stick to this and have told that to my son every time he watches me clean my weapons.
