This is full of lulz.

I still struggle to wrap my mind around the fact that Bill Hancock is the College Football Playoff executive director.
My how the Cotton Bowl is suffering in the new system.

Bill Hancock, Bowl Championship Series executive director:
If Austin Murphy's and Dan Wetzel's phantom playoff scheme ever became reality, college football's unique regular season would be greatly diminished ... SI's writers failed to quote any student-athletes. Maybe that's because they know that an ESPN The Magazine poll in August showed that when players were asked whether they would rather have a college football career with three bowl trips or one playoff trip, 77 percent favored the bowls and only 23 percent wanted a playoff.

Rick Baker, AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic president:
There's no debate. A playoff system would ruin the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic. Add a playoff and the Classic experience becomes nothing more than a short business trip. The Cotton Bowl prides itself on creating life-long memories for the student athletes.

what a bullshite question, I guess it was impossible to ask the student athletes if they'd rather go to 1 playoff trip or 1 bowl trip

yea I laughed at that part of his argument too. Basically asking 'would you rather grind out three sub-.500 seasons with one really good season or would you rather be pretty good for most of your career?'

As to your playoffs idea the bowls would be out of business in your scenario

.....................aaaaaand it's only been one year. You have talk of playoff expansion already. With 4 teams in this argument is invalid, becomes a little more valid with 8 teams in, and definately valid with 16 teams in. Just a thought....

that's exactly right. People will dismiss any argument that expansion will hurt the regular season because of these past arguments. IMO 4 is the perfect number, we say this year the last 2 weeks were compeling. We not only had the OSU, Baylor, TCU 3 some vying for 1 spot but if FSU, Oregon and maybe even Bama had lost late they would have been out.
If it goes to 8, what you will wind up with is the teams that win CCG playing teams that finished 2nd in their divisions and there for did not have to play in the CCG.

It's been one year. Can't draw too many conclusions on the predictions these guys made.
Premature jackassification.
