Well, it really means a lot coming from someone that can't grasp what people say and throws out ridiculous arguments based on his misinterpretations. I'm not sure how I'll get by.

comparing 2 cities that are completely opposite from one another...no one from New Orleans is trying to say that their city is any better or worse than NYC and vice versa...thats just dumb

I agree and that's one of the reasons I prefer la, but to the average person mi has much better outdoor activities.

He hasn't seen a mess until he's seen BR.

New Orleans is a more interesting place than anywhere in Michigan, at least to me.
Michigan has great music history (Detroit especially), but I'd take New Orleans over it easily. Also, not many cities compare to New Orleans as far as music goes currently.
Food: This isn't even debatable
Weather: Louisiana for fall and winter. Spring is a push. Michigan for summer of course.
Landscape/Nature: Michigan

I was long a Nola hater until I actually started coming here from work a lot. I've done a 180 and I really love this place sometimes.
There are lots of things that make me angry, like bums on every corner and Domino's delivery men getting murdered at 1:00 AM over $30 or random spray and pray gun battles at Mardi Gras or the goddamn roads. But being able to walk to a thousand restaurants or grab a beer at a small microbrewery around the corner and all the fun stuff going on all the time...I don't know, this place has grown on me big time.

Michigan wins in the hockey category too. New Orleans is just like NYC without ice skating.

I'm caught somewhere between the fact that I've never been the victim of a crime in New Orleans and the likelihood that crime statistics aren't made up. I hear all the time how unique and exciting New Orleans is, and I can confirm that those things are true as far as I've experienced. I just sincerely wish I heard more about New Orleans getting better at things within its infrastructure, and if you were to ask me if the city will be better off or worse off in the next 20 years, I only see bad news.
It's amazing so many people come to visit this pile of shite city every year.

How come people from New Orleans cannot listen criticism with out getting bent out of shape?
Then they are first to compare and attack other cities. Or even worse claim that New Orleans is on the same level as New York or LA

There has been lots of work done on the surface streets in Nola, too. Then, there are some other major arterials that will get makeovers like Martin Luther King, Morrison and Marconi.
The airport will get a new private air terminal and the Loyola exit off I-10 will have to be redesigned to serve as the major interchange with MSY.
There is talk of I-10 being dropped over Claiborne north of the US 90/I-10 interchange. The I-10 will cease to exist from that point to I-610. Then, I-610 will likely be renamed I-10 and Claiborne will be widened and upgraded where I-10 used to be. The section of I-10 from the southern I-610 split to the US 90/I-10 split will then become I-49 once that all comes to pass many moons from now. That's the idea anyway.
There is the slight possibility of the Nola-BR commuter rail.
There are several other road repaving jobs in the works.
Lots of other municipal projects, like the stuff going on on Napoleon.

No kidding. It's not like roads are under major construction including the drainage below. Would be nice if they built some type of healthcare developemt too. Maybe expand the street car line.

If I could make my visits to LA where I stayed in NOLA the entire time and had family and friends come visit me there I totally would do it
NOLA is just a really fun city to visit, couldn't ever live there though...but I always make sure to make time to go there anytime I'm in LA. And anytime my husband has come with me...I made sure we spent time there(he has always enjoyed his visits to NOLA). Not fair to drag him to BR and make him stay there the entire time

This. Someone offers up an objectively fair criticism (if you want to call it criticism instead of truth) and they bitch and moan groan like a bunch of women. Must be the French influence

The couple in the purple suit are enjoying the view.
