What was wrong with the half court shot?

I've always thought it was smarter to do what he did. He slowed down and shot from a good base. It was dead on and he probably makes that shot 1/6 times or so.

Shooting from a mid sprint with .04 seconds left can't be a better shot can it?

He's still could've taken another step minimum and gotten set which he might make 1/5 times as opposed to 1/6

No chance. If someone could make 1 of 6 from half-court in a pressure situation like that they would be signed by an NBA team as the 12th man and they would use them anytime they needed a shot like that.

It was a set shot from half court. You don't think he can make that 1/6 times?

he probably practiced that shot 30 times a year at least.

it was a decent shot.

it was better than getting closer and having to deal with guys in the way.

A half court shot is hard as hell man. I'd might be willing to give him 1/10 but even that's being generous

Yea I don't mind it. Having the line there gave him perfect understanding of the distance. More so than a closer shot with no reference point.

Maybe in an empty gym, not to send his team to the Final Four.

No chance. In practice MAYBE but I highly doubt it, in a situation like that with 10s of millions watching no way.

Why wouldn't a team sign someone like that as a 12th man. You get those situations a lot at the end of quarters and games. I think they would get picked up.

I doubt the crowd messed with him at all on that shot. He made that shot as easy and natural as he possibly could have.

As opposed to the duck your head, sprint your arse off, look up at the last second while jumping off one foot and launching the ball with that almost one arm thing.

He missed that shot by a few inches and made it pretty easy for himself to square up.

Dude are you insane? You think a team is going to waste a roster spot on someone who can make a half court shot 1 in 6 times?

The Harlem Globetrotters should all be in the league.

Its like a specialist. How many more games a year could the average team win if they had someone that could nail a half-court shot when the situation called for it? Two? Three? I mean, that is HUGE for a 12th man.

So he would be on the roster just to put in at the end of a one score game? For 5 seconds every few weeks?

Pretty much yes but he would also be used at the end of quarters when a shot like that was needed. 12th men don't play anyways so I don't see why a team wouldn't if it could win them even one extra game a year.

There was a thread on here like a month ago that asked if you were given the chance to make a half-court shot and had 20 tries with a payoff of 10 million bucks, but if you didn't make any you had to spend a few years in jail, would you do it and almost everyone said they would. The majority on here said making 1 in 20 is super easy even with that pressure.

It is. And a top notch college player would have NO problems doing it.

They could probably make 1 in 20 with that pressure but the average OT'er....no way. As far as a 1 in 6 average in a pressure situation like that there is no fricking way.

How often does an NBA team shoot a halfcourt shot for the win at the end of a game?
