Anyone saying that Izzo is as good or better than Pitino is definitely being prisoner of the moment. I think the guy is pretty sleazy, but what he's done at two separate schools is remarkable. Plus, he gift-wrapped that 1998 NC team for Tubby Smith.
If Pitino had made the Final Four this year, we'd be having the exact same conversation about him.

Donovan is criminally underrated in this thread. Many have Izzo in their top 2 coaching list. Coach D was hired a year after Izzo and has the following:
2 national champions
4 final 4s
3 elite 8s
Izzo has
1 national champion
6 final fours
2 elite 8s
both are neck and neck IMO…if Izzo wins it all this year, I would give him the edge, but right now, I'll take Billy D who has more championships.

All of this. My post should definitely be bookmarked, but Duke will beat Michigan State Saturday. Izzo is dogshit against the state of North Carolina.
On another note, I don't get the love for him. "Oh my god Tom, you're so good at losing in the final four". Oh, but he does it with lesser talent. Yeah, because he's an asshat. Same thing with the much less accomplished Bo Ryan, aka the Grinch.

Izzo hasn't missed the tournament since 1997.
Donovan has been feast or famine.
Florida missed the NCAA Tournament for 2 years after the back-to-back titles. Yes, I know they lost everybody, but still. And this 16-17 season this year in a year where they were a shoo-in for 2nd place in the conference was a blow. And I also know the entire team was injured.
