bank fishing for large mouth bass?

Where are the best general areas for bank fishing for good large mouth bass in southern LA? We have done City park and surrounding areas in the city quite a bit, and have had some luck, but most of the bass are quite small, generally being less than 3 pounds.
Myself (and my son) would really like it if we could find some good sized bass off the bank within a 1 hour or so drive from New Orleans.

That's just unrealistic unfortunately. Catching bass up to 3lb from the bank is pretty good. Unless you can get access to a golf course pond or to a neighborhood lake, that's about the best you're gonna do.

Golf course ponds, we used to kill them at Pine Hills in Calhoun.

I've dominated the lakes at Oak Harbor golf course in Slidell a couple times. There are tons of bass but I haven't caught anything over 2, 2.5 lbs. I'm sure there are bigger ones there. There are also a couple other lakes in Slidell where I've caught some nicer ones.

A family member may have built the buildings and did most of the dirt work?
I may have built the original, concrete cart trails?
