ETA: there was a good amount of digging involved to get it to slope the way I wanted

I'm not saying you paid too much, just comparing what you got with what the OP is asking about. It is all about how much labor is involved in something as to what it is worth.

My existing slab had a pretty good slope, had to match the slope. Then I had one corner poured in a curve (rounded like) so it doesn't look like a jagged corner. I will eventually build a firepit there. added special footing for the pergola posts I'll soon be attaching.

I live in Lafayette so I used a local guy that came highly recommended, he did an excellent job.
