I usually pull for greatness, but this game just made me feel weird.

Usually when an underdog is going for the upset it feels quirky and like a gimmick. This game, however, felt like an incredibly skilled, well oiled machine against a bunch of freakazoids without a clue.

It just sucks that this Notre Dame team, which is brilliant at spacing and cuts and passing, lost to a team that is better at them at genetics and nothing else. It was painful watching all these Kentucky 7 footers struggle against their 6'5 ND defenders.

It was equally as painful to watch Calipari school Brey late in the game. Seriously, iso on your last real posesion? You're not playing with Kentucky because of you're individual skills, it's because of your system. Run the damn offense, don't iso Grant for 20 seconds.

Just sucks, and I usually pull for greatness. Kentucky, however, isn't that. They're the product of a watered down system and an incredible coach who can recruit.

Didnt really care who won, but your summary of the game is spot-on.

I am pretty sure I agree with you but I still think it's incredibly unpopular to not think this Kentucky team is gods gift so I'm scared to say too much

It would have been nice to see Notre Dame pull the upset, but I'm not mad about it.

I'm not a huge fan of Coach Cal as an in game coach. I think he is average. He is a great recruiter who can win when his team has superior talent, which is basically every game.

I think Izzo would coach circles around him but it may not matter in the score.

Good analysis. KY has great athletes who can be dominant. ND has a great basketball team.

Kentucky would have lost at least 3 games in the ACC

Yep, nothing great about 38-0 and I believe only 2nd to Stanford in field goal percentage defense.

Feel free to find me a great team that was never challenged in the tournament. Especially in the Elite Eight.

They beat Notre Dame, North Carolina and Louisville. They also beat the Big 12 champions by 30. Who would they have lost to?

Lost 4 games that season. In the tournament you're correct. But still challenged (I should have prefaced, challenged that season).

I don't think Saban is a great in-game coach either. He's an amazing recruiter and great at preparing. Doesn't mean on game day he is good

Fair enough. I think Wisky presents Kentucky with some real challenges. Talk about a fun fun game

KY's weakness is vs teams with strong guard play, good outside shooters and at least 1 athletic big man. In this tourney the only teams that can compete vs them are ND, Wiscy and AZ. Wiscy has always posed the biggest threat IMO. People think Duke would have a chance but I think KY runs them out of the gym.

One, I think Cal is better than average when it comes to in-game adjustments. Two, preparation shouldn't be a reason to call Cal a less of a coach. If your pre-game plan is working, how does that make you less of a coach during the game?
