I probably did. I had a list of these BBS's that I would frequent just to peruse as far back as 1989.
Some of these had pretty dark themes.

I used to frequent BBS's on my Atari 800 XL when I lived in BR in the mid 1980's but I don't remember any of their names. None of them had nudes. It was mostly pirated games like MULE or different versions of DOS. 300 baud modems rocked!

Phone Booth BBS was king, but you also had Crossroads, Silveril's Demesnes, Shedrick's Corner, Forgotten Realms, Street Corner, etc.

Phone Booth was run by a POS who was busted for pirating so he turned into a narc and started ratting on others to save his arse.

Was on some back in mid 80's but can't remember the names for the life of me. Ended up meeting a guy in my neighborhood that hosted a board. Was cool to go to his house and watch on his monitor what people did when they logged in.
And I had a demon dialer program too that would dial random phone numbers to find a computer. If your phone rang at 3:30 am and you heard a computer on the other end, it might have been me calling......

I used to frequent the Batboard or Bat Cave, whatever it was called. Also, Datalink was another big one. NextLink I used to download Playboy pictures usIng Z modem protocol. I would set the download and come back 8 minutes later to look at the picture.
Also, used to play a game called "Food Fight" regularly.
