Chick Hearn, Hot Rod Hundley, Gene Peterson. A great era of local NBA PbP men.

I remember reading a bio on him and his playing days, Clown: No. 33 in Your Program, No. 1 in Your Heart (1970). It was inspirational in a way for this then HS frosh. I think I remember a phrase from the book..."lucky muscle bulging".

Just curious, did Joel Meyers mention Hot Rod last night during the Pelicans game broadcast? If so, what did he say?

Back when N.O. still had the Jazz, a friend and I went to the old Ruby Reds location in the FQ, on Esplanade. Saw a guy sitting by himself at the bar, and we set next to him. Turns out it was Hot Rod. Bought him a few beers and got some incredible basketball stories in exchange. RIP Mr. Hundley.

Godbless! "AJ from the parkin lot" and the "Pistoool Peete showtime" were classic!

You right! But he did say something involving showtime when Pistol made spectacular plays.
