I'm definitely Toyota biased, and I'm not ashamed to say it.

ETA: I think the vehicle is for him.

That's what we got, but 2 years older. Word of advice: look at the value of an older vehicle. We easily paid half that for the tricked out one.

I have as well.

But given that most people only put about 12K a year on a vehicle, they will trade before 8 years passes.

2015 Buick Enclave

Good choice. My parents have a Buick LaCrosse. It's built like a tank and has been incredibly reliable for them. Those cars are so quiet and smooth.

A highlander may have captain chairs, but you can't have kids walk between them like u can in an enclave. I have an enclave, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Been to the shop a few times to fix defects. And they get rattles in the weirdest places that won't go away. I had An Acadia before that and had the same issues.

Don't just drive the Highlander, drive the 4Runner as well. A lot more mass to dissipate energy if ever in an accident. The wife has a 2013 Limited and it's smooth. Great V-6, decent mileage, and ton's of safety features.

Yep, the 4runner has the same frame as the Land Cruisers. Very strong/safe and high resale value.

Sounds like a solid plan. I wouldn't pay a dime over $33.5K. 14K miles is a lot and the mark down should be significant.

How much is MSRP for brand new? $43K+?

I have 3 family members with Highlanders. an 2004(130K miles no problems), 2013 and 2014'. They all love theirs. The 04' is about to get traded in for a 15'.
