So does George Karl.
So did Paul Silas, Gene Shue, Del Harris, Bob Hill, Brian Hill, Len Wilkens

NBA is notorious.

Jackson is a cheerleader/motivational speaker more than a teacher or even a manager. He does not belong in charge of an NBA or respectable NCAA squad. Nice guy to have on the bench in the right culture, but not as head guy.

George Karl is a good coach. His teams always overachieve.

That's what they say.
Still, 26 seasons 14 1 and outs, 1 NBA final, zero championships.
And his Seattle teams had NBA championship talent.

Karl gets a bad rap due to his time in Cleveland and what happened in Indy.

Well, except for his most memorable stint when he had the most talent in Seattle.

I think those people who haven't forgotten Cleveland realize the owner there was insane. In Denver, he was first in the division 3 times, 2nd 6 times and made it out of the first round once. I guess one could argue that his Denver teams weren't overly talented so getting to the playoffs was an accomplishment in itself.
He seems like a cool guy, but he sure has had a lot of chances.

As for ST Johns, I think this was supposed to be the year, and they were pretty mediocre after December. They lose a lot too.

18 current NBA coaches are on their first gig. Jason Kidd doesn't really count as a retread. Doc got traded.

List of some of the "retreads":

Carlisle (Playoffs bound)
McHale (Playoffs bound)
Stotts (Playoffs bound)
Casey (Playoffs bound)
Wittman (Playoffs bound)
SVG
Karl: Won COY like 2 seasons ago; hired mid-season
Flip Saunders: Hired himself
