Catholic religion ruled alligator as fish so anything else that stays in the water that amount of time is ruled to be a fish. So, lifeguard = fish

And most people forget that they are only supposed to have one single meal on Friday during Lent

You need to review your Lenten traditions. Catholics abstain from "meat" all Friday's during Lent.

On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday you are required to fast by only eating one larger meal. The two remaining meals should be sparse and when combined must not equal that of the larger meal.

Does your church not post the Lenten dietary guidelines in the bulletin?

That isn't a tradition.

Well, it went from being mildly funny to annoying for some of y'all, and Scruffy enjoys annoying people almost as much as freshly caught blackened hippo on Fridays.

Catfish are 50% feline. It really depends on which diocese you are a part of. Some round catfish up, some down.

quote:

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.

For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may also be taken, but not to equal a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.

The "may" in that sentence means its optional. Not recommended. The problem is that the Church allows too many options for lenten fasting, and it has led to confusion and silly notions on what fasting is.

Does it matter? I don't think the big man upstairs would condemn you to hellfire and eternal damnation just because you (un)knowingly ate meat on a Friday during Lent...
