Would the Knicks trade their current roster for Kentucky's roster?

I know the "Could Kentucky beat an NBA team?" question can get repetitive at times, so I am going for a little twist on that question. I think I would trade the Knicks roster for Kentucky's in a heartbeat (even with Melo). For those that think this is completely ridiculous, here is the Knicks roster

Knicks
Quincy Acy
Cole Aldrich
Lou Amundson
Carmelo Anthony
Andrea Bargnani
Jose Calderon
Cleanthony Early
Langston Galloway
Tim Hardaway Jr.
Shane Larkin
Ricky Ledo
Alexey Shved
Jason Smith
Lance Thomas
Travis Wear

Here is the Kentucky roster:

Wildcats
Karl Anthony Towns (Top 3 pick)
Willie Cauley-Stein (Top 10 pick)
Devin Booker (Mid 1st round pick)
Trey Lyles (Mid-Late 1st round pick)
Dakari Johnson (Early 2nd round pick)
Marcus Lee (2nd round pick)
Andrew Harrison (2nd round pick)
Alex Poythress (2016 late 1st round pick)
Aaron Harrison (Undrafted FA)
Tyler Ulis (Undrafted FA)

Eta: These trades are for the future in general (pretend each UK player is on a rookie contract for their value), not just this season in case that was confusing.

Let's say you just based it off the guys playing this season (so remove Melo).

Would you still turn it down?

Yes. I like Melo, but his contract sucks.

A good GM could quickly add solid pieces around the Kentucky talent. Basically everyone on the Knicks is replaceable. You can get those types of players easily. Give me Towns and WCS to build around.

Wouldn't be stunning if Towns develops into the only legit NBA starter from this whole bunch.

I'm just gonna make a 13 man roster between them and see how this ends up:

I'll take Melo and Calderon without hesitation. Galloway has looked good. Probably keep Bargs as well.

I want Towns, Booker, WCS, Lyles, and Ulis (a bit of reach I know).

Then I lean Hardaway Jr. and Jason Smith.

I'll finish with Aaron Harrison and one more Knick (I can't pick).

1. Melo
2. Calderon
3. Bargs
4. Galloway
5. Towns
6. WCS
7. Booker
8. Lyles
9. Ulis
10. Hardaway Jr
11. Smith
12. Aa Harrison
13. Shane Larkin

Lyles has the 2nd best NBA potential imo. So skilled at 6'10".

Bargs and Calderon are solid players, but they both make about $10 million a year each. Give me WCS or Booker on a rookie contract over them any day.

Yeah the conversation changes quickly when you bring up contracts.

If I could have the entire UK team on rookie deals then I make the deal.

You could have 2-4 of your roster places locked down for the next 10 years. Take the high lottery pick the next season to fill out any more gaps.

You're kind of cheating when you do that because you're giving your team 50+ mil in cap space for FA and two lottery picks this year. The Knicks, Lakers, 76ers, Nuggets, Nets would all do that. They'd do it for Duke's roster too.

let's add another twist... the cap space and picks can only be used on UK players...

and you're NOT getting Anthony Davis. PERIOD

Still better than anyone the Knicks have going forward.

Melo and Calderon are old and the rest range from completely useless to mostly replaceable. I'd make this trade in a heartbeat.

Yes, if all of Kentucky's players are under the rookie cap, it is a no brainier. Melo is a quality player but not worth the contract he has.

I think WCS will be a DeAndre type player, maybe not as explosive.

Well the Knicks will have Towns next season anyways. Plus, they will get several mid-level FA's with all the cap space they have. I'll take them where they are and wait for next year.

people always assign players to a certain team... there's a 75% chance they won't win the lottery...
